I'm a 1% er now come join me!

Are you part of the 1% of Americans that ride a bike more that once in ten trips out?  I am in the slow but steady process of switching my work commuter from a car to a 1957 J.C Higgins bicycle.  I obtained this rusted out frame with no seat, tires, or chain about 16 years ago it just sat on my fathers porch for years gathering more rust.  One day while helping to mow the grass at my fathers house I kept staring at the frame until suddenly I decided to restore it and make a commitment to attempt it ride the five miles to work and home on the bike.

Once the idea had hatched I could hardly sleep I wanted that bike completed so bad!  You see I have a mountain bike and a fast carbon fiber road bike but nothing that I wanted to convert over to a commuter bike.  I would need panniers to hold my lunch and other work related items, I would need headlights for night riding home and a tail light.  I spent hours, days, weeks, and months finishing my project commuter bike until finally she was born.

I love the rich curves of the J.C Higgins Flight Liner bikes.  The history intertwined with each steel tube making up the frame just amazed me.  I ordered pedals, handle bars, alloy rims, tires, Brooks seat with roll up panniers, and an internal eight speed hub.  This is my first build and I absolutely love it.  I am hoping it will encourage me to become one of the 1% ers out there that ride more than the average!  I will be uploading pictures soon, this blog as of tonight is brand new please stay patient as I add material to it.

Peace
Pedal Strong
